The "World Mixed Martial Arts Organization" as a short form "World MMA Organization" or "WMO", is a non-profit-oriented association with seat in Switzerland. The association pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes and has the goal to promote the professional MMA sport.

 

Thus, it is important to make MMA a socially accepted martial art, where the focus is on the sporting aspect and less of a "freak show". The puzzle of 1000 different champions from different promotions is an irritating fact for both the MMA fans and for the orientation of the top athletes. As in boxing and other martial arts, it takes a real champion per weight class.
